Back to the Game is a mural painting which shows us how contact with nature makes older people feel young, fresh, and energetic again. It portrays two older people playing in an exercise park that has been reclaimed by nature, by showing animals hidden between the side and top panels, making the mural more immersive; and inviting viewers to the game of finding the animals hidden among the plants, forest, and nature.
1. Human emotions and connection
The two people portrayed in the mural are my parents, which makes the mural acquire an added emotional value.
The portrait of them enjoying a shared moment highlights the theme of joy, company, and family ties.
The game between the two represents interaction, play, and the value of the human experience, especially in the later stages of life.
2. Animals and nature as an emotional extension
The animals and plants of the Amazon play the role of both companions and witnesses, symbolizing the deep interconnection between humans and nature. The biodiversity in the mural of animals and plants symbolically reflects the complexity and richness of human emotions.
3. Environmental themes
The scene depicts an older couple in a forest with Amazonian flora and fauna, helping to frame human emotions, which although very personal, are also shaped by the environment.
4. Intergenerational dialogue
This mural also serves as a bridge between generations, celebrating the vitality and joy of older people while highlighting the need to preserve natural spaces for future generations.
